VANCOUVER, BC (September 22, 2020) — Iconic BC restaurant chains White Spot and Triple O’s continued to underscore their longstanding commitment to the community at large and children across the province, by raising a total of $15,902 for Variety – The Children’s Charity over the past weekend.
As part of a sneak-peek celebration prior to the official launch of the made-from-plants Impossible™ Burger patty on the menu at all of its locations in BC and Alberta, the chains donated $2 from the sale of each Impossible Burger to Variety, which coincided with the charity’s annual Variety Week fundraising efforts. The born-in-BC brands have been active supporters of Variety since 1966 and began its ongoing mission to provide help to children with special needs in BC to ensure that they have the support to reach their potential and thrive. In addition to monetary donations, more than 125 White Spot and Triple O’s employees donate their time each year to help serve burgers to volunteers at the annual Variety’s Show of Hearts telethon.
“We’re so thankful to White Spot and Triple O’s for their support for Variety and ongoing involvement in Variety Week,” says Cally Wesson, Chief Executive Officer, Variety — The Children’s Charity. “Our ability to fundraise during COVID-19 has been significantly impacted, so these funds will go a long way in helping children and families in BC.”
White Spot and Triple O’s continue to be strong supporters of a number of other local charities and organizations, including the White Spot Pipe Band, the CKNW Kids Fund, the Vancouver Giants annual Teddy Bear Toss and the Zajac Ranch for Children, which has been the direct recipient of more than $889,502 that has been raised over the past decade via White Spot’s annual Pirate Pak Day fundraiser.
“Showing gratitude and giving back to the community were extremely important values for our founder, Nat Bailey, and we are proud to carry on that tradition by supporting a number of worthy causes to this day,” says White Spot President Warren Erhart. “We’ve been an active supporter of Variety since it launched and we’re thrilled to be able to continue helping out an organization that does so much good for BC children with special needs.”
